In Lignano Sabbiadoro the opening ceremony and the inaugural match of the World Championships of powerchair hockey was on stage

Lignano Sabbiadoro, 26th September 2018 – At 7pm today, Wednesday, September 26th, the IV IWAS Powerchair Hockey World Championship took place in the sports hall of the Bella Italia EFA Village in Lignano Sabbiadoro. To start the event there was the opening ceremony that involved local, national athletes and artists and the opening match between Italy and Switzerland, won by the hosts from 9 to 5.

The show has involved the highest authorities of the powerchair hockey and the different characters of showbiz and sport that in different ways have interpreted the three values at the base of the whole event. Integration, passion and competition. Stefano Ceiner, speaker of the evening, at the presentation of the participating teams (Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Switzerland and Italy) led the large public present through a journey into the world of sport, art and music.

On stage there were artists such as Anastasia Kuzmina and Luca Favilla who performed, as well as the Friulian aerial dancer Laura Menegon, to the sound of the young singer Shari Noioso. The Italian Cheerleading Federation has enlivened the arena, bringing energy and acrobatics, which contrasted to the lightness of the European roller skating champion’s performance on roller skates. At 20.45, after the ceremony, took place, under the eyes of over 400 fans and spectators, the athletes of the Swiss and Italian national teams playing the first official game of this world championship.
