Allianz UMANA MENTE
The Allianz UMANA MENTE Foundation was established in 2001 by the Founding Partner Allianz S.p.A. to offer a better life to disadvantaged people. Since its incorporation, the Allianz UMANA MENTE Foundation has focused its activities on two specific areas of need: congenital mental and physical disabilities, and disadvantaged children and youths. Every year, the Foundation identifies specific fields of intervention within these two areas in order to effectively respond to an identified social need, supporting projects that stand out for innovation, replicability and sustainability. Financed projects also want to reflect – in the social field – excellence, one of the central values of the Allianz Group. Over the years, the Foundation has stood out for its ability to give concrete value to the social investments it supports, thanks to a structured assessment process during the initial selection and close monitoring of supported projects towards the achievement of predefined targets. From 2002 to date, the Allianz UMANA MENTE Foundation has supported over 50 thousand people with different situations of need, allocating more than 34 million euro to 214 projects. The Allianz UMANA MENTE Foundation is part of the Allianz Foundations’ Network which gathers all the foundations of the Allianz Group worldwide.
The Allianz UMANA MENTE Foundation decided to support the Italian Wheelchair Hockey Federation in the organization of the IWAS Powerchair Hockey World Championship, a project aligned with the Foundation’s field of intervention. Specifically, the Foundation believes that sports should not represent barriers but a vector of social inclusion and an opportunity to give visibility to Paralympic sports.
